Electric regulators are devices that can be used for many purposes. You can use them to maintain a steady level of voltage automatically. Suppose a device does not suit the level of AC in your region. In that case, a Voltage regulator can be used to bring it down or up to the voltage at which the device operates.

Another fantastic benefit of voltage regulators is their ability to stabilize the supply of voltage given to a device. They can control the fluctuations that can cause over or under voltage and potentially damage the device. This results in a longer life span for the device. It also curbs potential fire hazards or shock hazards that may arise with a damaged appliance. Here are types of voltage regulators:

Contact type Voltage Regulator
This is a very preliminary form of a voltage regulator. Initially, it was implemented with a physical contact necessary for regulation. There were many drawbacks to it, such as low frequency, electromagnetic inertia, and voltage regulation accuracy. This regulator had a high risk of sparking and many reliability issues and was soon eliminated from the market.

Transistor Regulator
Transistors have changed the shape of the electronics market a lot. They are small in size, and as they have no mechanical parts, they are highly efficient and have a very long lifespan. They have a very high switching frequency and are not bothered by radio interference. This was very commonly used in mid-end car brands such as Ford.

IC Regulator
An IC is an integrated circuit. And integrated circuits have gained popularity because of their high end and minimal design. These IC-based regulators further reduced the size of the circuit into an ultra-small package. The small size allowed it to be highly efficient in cooling as well. It is used in high-end car brands such as Cadillac and Chrysler.

Computer-Controlled Regulator
This design features an electrical load detector. The detector generates a signal that is transmitted to the computer of the regulator. These types of voltage regulators are used widely on generators to stabilize their output voltage. The computer turns the generator's magnetic field on and off to ensure a stable level of voltage.

Voltage regulators are bliss when it comes to the circuitry. One of the  significant reasons why circuits malfunction is fluctuations in voltages. There are many voltage regulators for home appliances as well, such as this powerful SIMRAN Voltage Regulator. This would protect your expensive equipment from a lot of damage.
